Summer is over -- TIME TO JUMP INTO FALL!!

Just wanted to drop a note to all MARPPIO members and web visitors of the upcoming things for this website and MARPPIO in general.

Firstly, we will publish new articles on a couple of recent FMA events:  FMA Convention in Baltimore, Maryland and the World of FMA Seminar.  Both events featured Grandmasters from multiple FMA systems and which were sponsored by primarily Filipino organizations.  I think these things will make for good reading and reflects the future of the FMA culture. 

Secondly, the promised online shopping area (finally!!) will expand to include easier viewing and ordering of MARPPIO products.  Please note that MARPPIO now has a NEW UNIFORM and this will become available as soon as the new online shopping area comes online -- stay tuned. 

Thirdly, we plan to publish new instructional materials for download that addresses explicitly the fundamentals of the MARPPIO system.   During the last few years of Dr. Remy's tour schedule, it has become apparent that there are issues based on incorrect application of fundamental modern arnis skills :  incorrect form during the application of a strike, incorrect footwork, incorrect perception of basic concepts of arnis and lastly incorrect use of form, application and terminology of the Anyos.  With respect to this last point, MARPPIO is undertaking the development of an instructional series devoted entirely to  stick Anyos 1 to 4  

This instructional material will contain everything a modern arnis practitioner will need to learn the movements properly albeit in an online learning format.  There is no substitute for dojo style instruction of concepts relating to physical movement, however, this is MARPPIO's first attempt to correct problems related to the proper acqusition of this basic skill.  Everyone who is a serious modern arnis student should know how to perform these very basic stick forms properly and we believe that having these materials online is a great asset towards this goal.  Additionally, MARPPIO black belts who are actively teaching this essential form are strongly urged to review this material in order to help our system to maintain high quality of instruction and high performance levels of all of our students.

  MARPPIO is announcing the availability of Dr. Remy Presas Jr. for seminars/workshops in advanced techniques of Modern Arnis for late Fall-Winter 2008 and all of 2009.  It is not too early to book Dr. Presas to appear at your school or martial arts event to show the latest in advanced self-defense techniques in Modern Arnis -- his family Filipino martial art. 

Dr. Presas continues to expand the frontier of Modern Arnis by developing new and relevant techniques that reflect the diversity of Filipino martial arts and which responds to the 21st century and the complexities this brings to our daily lives.  Additionally, Dr. Presas is the eldest son of the late Grandmaster Remy A. Presas and continues the work began by his father, the creator of Modern Arnis.  He, alone, along with his family, understand fully, the entire breadth, scope, history and sophistication of Filipino martial arts as it relates to Modern Arnis.  A seminar at your school would give you and your students the unique opportunity to experience the best of Filipino martial art and culture.

 When inquiring, please include the time you would like Dr. Remy to consider and geographical location.  Dr. Remy tours worldwide and presents to hundreds of students every year.  We look forward to the opportunity of traveling to places that have yet to experience the brilliance of Modern Arnis.  Some places that we would consider visiting include the continents of Australia, Africa and South America as well as places in Eastern Europe including Russia and finally places in Asia including China, Vietnam and Taiwan.
