I have been talking with a friend about making Modern Arnis uniforms, because she has access to a professional-quality sewing machine and an interest in starting up her own home business. And because I noticed on FMAtalk.com forums that a lot of people were talking about how they couldn't find them/Century stopped carrying them/etc. Belts seem even easier to make than uniforms.

This is something I would be happy to push progress on, if it wouldn't be out of line or unwelcome for me to do so. I have erred on the side of caution, because I don't want to step out of place here. And if Dr. Presas/MARPIO has access to them, then there's obviously no need. But if that changes in the future, this is probably something we can do something about.

Excellent response. I do know that you can special order the Black with red striped Tops from Century as a Custom Order Uniform. You have to have an account and buy a minimum number of them. Century does stock and sell the double red striped contact pant that matches the sport top.
On to the belts, MARPPIO is going to stock these as soon as the new store is up and running. But, having a backup source when they sell out could be a good idea.
Also, having the ability to make FMA tops and bottoms might be helpful too.
I would contact Dr. Presas to see when the time frame is on these items. Of course you can market to all FMA clubs for their belts and uniforms. I know I have heard from several Clubs and Schools that struggle getting FMA items.
Thanks for the info and have your friend pursue this idea. She could niche herself with a website and market to the FMA community.
Guro Ben.

One more thing about belts. Can we get them made in a material that holds a knot?
My Modern Arnis Lakan belt, even after almost 5 years still comes undone! I have washed it many, many times to no effect. Can we go to a somewhat softer material. It doesn't have to last a milleniam.

Sir,

We could definitely vary the material they were made out of, in order to produce the right product. I suspect it would just be a matter of finding out what a 'normal' karate belt is made out of and producing them out of that.
