How to host multiple images for this website. 5 Months ago Karma: 0
This forum software only allows members to include ONE image per post -- that's it. Additionally, it allows only one file per post. This is a limitation of the software and the one image policy is one we must support because the purpose of this site is something other than hosting photos -- we simply will not host the potential multitude of images our members bring to the site. However, there are many other services on the Internet that allow image hosting and you can use their services to host images that can show up on this site.

This is a common trick experienced posters use to show many images on their favourite forums:

  • Go to any image hosting provider on the Internet. There are many of them and some of them require registration and other's don't. For the purpose of this example, we have chosen one of each: photobucket.com (registration required) and photolava.com (no registration).

  • If you must, register for an account and follow the site's directions for uploading images. Please note that 640 x 480 images work the best for this site because of the size limitation of the forum boards.

  • After the image has posted on their site, there is a function that allows you to COPY TO CLIPBOARD, the url (address) of the image. You may also select and copy the url manually. You will use this link in your MARPPIO Forum post to display the image.

**********
  1. Login as a user to MARPPIO (modernarnis.com) and go to the Forums.

  2. Make your post and at some point, add your link. For example, your link will look something like this:
    http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk221/marppio/modern20arnis20LOGO.gif

  3. In order to display it on this site, you must add the tags to the link so that it looks like this:

    Code:

    [IMG]http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk221/marppio/modern20arnis20LOGO.gif[/IMG]
  4. The tags are processed by the Forum software and forces the image in the link to display on the page along with your post. This process is called rendering. Note that you may manually type in the img tags AROUND your image link or use the handy-dandy img tag located at the top of the post editor beneath the smiley face list. (Simply put your cursor on the image link, select it, click the img link and voila, your url has been tagged for this post.)
You may have as many images in your post as you like because the Forum software only reads the link as regular piece of code and NOT as an image. You could conceivably have 100 images displayed on this Forum in one post. However, 100 images in a row is A LOT of images for our members to look through and will slow down the page load time. For courtesy's sake, please, if you must, load up to 20 images at a time per post however you should post as many times as you need in order to post all your images. Examples of what a posting from images hosted on external sites look like:
  • photobucket.com (above)
  • photolava.com (above)
Note that with each hosting service, there is usually a place for you to click on that will automagickally add the proper code to your image link so that you don't have to add the img tags to your post. This is helpful if you have lots of images because it keeps you from manually having to add the tags to each post. If you have any questions about this process, please use our contact page and use the Technical Issues contact. Finally, we are not officially endorsing photobucket or photolava as the only sites you can use to do this posting trick. There are many, many others. The important thing to note with this example is that your image is hosted outside of our websites and to get that link into your post so that you can have multiple images on our forums. Cheers!
