Blog Update on MARPPIO..etc..
Well…it’s an exciting time for MARPPIO as we head into the late Spring and Summer.
I just wanted to keep everyone up to date on the goings on at this site and with MARPPIO in general.
Firstly, as you have seen recently, we are sponsoring a new seminar in June called The World of FMA Seminar. This seminar features four bona-fide grandmasters of FMA in one weekend. I won’t list the participants — it’s already on our front page and Forums. Apparently, this is one of the few times something like this where instructors at the grand master level and from different styles of FMA have agreed to come together and show their specialties in one seminar. Excitement is already brewing for this event and we have heard that students from as far away as Russia are attending. It’s only $65 for the day or $120 for BOTH days.
As of this writing, there are still spots available for the seminar. We have a limit on participants but we will try to accommodate as many who apply. Registration is available on this site — just go to Events > Seminar Registration and sign up, however we will not be taking payment online, Just register and show up to the event with your fee in hand. This event promises to be memorable and important if for nothing else than to see four different styles of FMA come together in unity.
We’ve added more content that reflects general Filipino culture. We’ve had requests from visitors and members who are interested in Filipiniana and so we’ve responded by adding the following:
- Links - more information on General Filipino culture including a very interesting section on other FMA styles.
- Pinoy Pod RSS feed from SF Chronicle - a daily feed that features Filipino culture from around the Bay Area.
- Finally — Mang Behr is back to twirl his magic stick on our Forums. This is a response from several of you who found this creature amusing and cannily proficient in the art of stick (really, more like a LOG) acrobatics. So..back he goes and is here to stay (or as long as Youtube continues to have him on).
Please keep tuning in to this site. We are continuing to expand and have been increasing our hit and unique visitor count steadily since its roll out in mid-March (only a little over two months). There are plans to expand more multimedia content and more usability for wider audiences in the future.
